iPads in Education
Hello,
My name is Dr. Joe Johnson. I teach Educational Technology courses at Edinboro University and have had the opportunity to work with many amazing teachers in northwestern Pennsylvania and beyond.
I have recently been studying ways that the Apple iPad can be used to enhance teaching and learning. I have found it to be an exceptionally versatile tool for both teaching and learning. Yet, as with any technological innovation in education, many educators are hesitant to deviate from their tried and true strategies. However if we try to do the same things, new tools and resources are meaningless. The best and most effective teachers assess both the available tools and their students’ needs so that they can make the absolute most of the tools at their disposal. It is with this goal in mind that I am creating this website. Assessing your students is up to you, but it is my hope that this page will provide some useful resources and ideas for getting the most out of the iPads in your classroom.
On this website, you will find a page dedicated to links to online resources for teachers using the iPad, a library of lesson plan ideas organized by content area, and a wiki for posting questions and/or open discussion of iPad integration.
If you would like to submit a lesson plan idea to be added to the library, please fill in the form below. I hope that you find this page useful and informative.
